I could not enjoy the flow of the story because I had to think too hard to keep track of who was who and where was where. However, one of my biggest pet peeves definitely weighs on my rating of this novel: the unconventional and confusing names. Overall the writing style is appealing, and I saw no proof of purple prose. I was not intrigued until about halfway through. The pacing can drag at times during the first half of the story. The story was not fragmented by one character's time giving way to the other. I prefer to read from a single third-person point of view because switching between characters can feel really jumpy if not done well. The story is told by two characters which usually irks me but it was done well and fluidly. Information is thrown at you quickly but, fret not, the details and background are explained throughout the book. Is a prince just a prince? Can a monster be just a monster? The Wicked Saints is a Young Adult Fantasy novel that dives right into the action. Sometimes, things are not what they seem. Thank you to #netgalley for releasing a copy to me for review. I highly recommend this book especially if you love dark books. After the cliffhanger ending, I NEED Ruthless Gods aka book 2 now. The writing was outstanding and flowed so smoothly.

I also have two ships I am going down with. I loved getting to see both sides of this war from people who had been living it their whole lives and not just one side like most first books.

This book is told from the Point of Views of Nadya and Serefin who are both on opposite sides of the war. Nadya, Serefin, and Malachiaz all stole my heart. This book made me question what makes a sinner and what makes a saint. I was really craving a dark book when I picked this up and it delivered and then some. I got so lost in this book's cruel monstrous beauty that I stayed up all night to finish it. A boy fighting a monster inside him. This book is one of my favorites of the year.
